When free is not free: forced membership and collecting credit card info

Today, I found an email in my inbox including this:

Here's what you need to get the XYZ Report:

Click on the link below and you'll be taken to a page to get your free trial membership to the Club. Fill out the form and click Continue. Then you'll be directed to a check-out page where you'll put in your contact information, including your credit card.

Your Credit card will not be charged, as the amount is $0.

You'll get an email with a link to the free report as soon as you complete this process.

To get the "free" report, I would have to a) join the Club, and b) give my credit card information even if it won't be charged.

I don't want to become a member of anything and I'm certainly not divulging my credit card information to anyone from whom I'm not buying anything and with whom I might never even deal with again in future.

So, however ingenious the report, sorry, no deal.
